Halfling

Concept made for future RPG campaign I want to DM in the future, which takes place in the Eastern fantasy world. Each of the basic races has a background inspired by some Asian culture - more precisely South, Southeast and Far East - and all have birds like mounts.

Halflings are inspired by Southeast Asian cultures - most notably Vietnam and Indonesia - following the same pantheon as elves and living on stilts in marshy regions or large artificial reed islands from which they derive their livelihood - especially fish and crustaceans - , paying taxes abusive to humans and sometimes protected by elves. Geese are the mount bird of the halflings, using them to move from one village or island to another and even for underwater fishing.
