Gnome

Concept made for future RPG campaign I want to DM in the future, which takes place in the Eastern fantasy world. Each of the basic races has a background inspired by some Asian culture - more precisely South, Southeast and Far East - and all have birds like mounts.

Gnomes are inspired by the Aino people - natives of the Japanese Archipelago, now almost entirely restricted to the island of Hokkaido -, living in large communities in isolated forests and mountains where they live hunting and planting. Gnomish communities suffer from pressure from the orcish shogunates, sometimes being defended by scouts in the service of the dwarvish hordes or halflings villages. Junglefowl are the gnomish mounts, adapted to run through the trails dug by their riders. Larger villages often use peacocks as guard and cargo birds.
